It's time for me to do yoga!
Jodi McIntyre | MAR 7, 2023
I have an update regarding the online classes. If you want to jump straight to the details, scroll down to the bold text. If you are interested in the back story, keep reading!
During one of the lockdowns of the pandemic, I was having a conversation with my brother-in-law. At that point, my yoga business was shut down because it was basically illegal to exercise in person with people outside your bubble, let alone breathe deeply beside them. He on the other hand was experiencing a surge with his construction company. People were stuck at home in their houses and the renovation industry was booming.
He found himself juggling the work of quoting, designing, and the physical construction work, as well as administrative tasks. I had extra time on my hands so I offered to do his bookkeeping until things opened back up.
Before I taught yoga, I had gone to trade school for Stone Masonry. After my schooling, I started up a small stone masonry company with a friend (our working name was ‘Bitches with Trowels’, I wish we had done some merchandising way back then!) I did that for a few years until I became pregnant with my first child which is when I got into yoga. After a few years of training, I started my yoga company by putting up a flyer at the local grocery store and now I’m now in my 19th year of running this business.
Through running two companies I have not been known to be the most technologically savvy individual, but along the way, I’ve adapted and taught myself what I need to know. I have designed and created 3 websites (check out the almost finished one I made for my brother-in-law here) and I currently run 85% of my yoga business online.
Since I started back up with online classes, I have continued to work part-time as Office Administrator. Recently I decided that since I was already doing administration, marketing, and bookkeeping for 2 companies I figured I would go to school and get certified in order to enhance my skills.
I’m a few weeks in and I’m loving it!
Here’s what I’m finding though; school, the admin job, running the yoga business, and all of my regular things like parenthood and social commitments, are all a bit much. My body is not used to sitting at a computer for extended periods of time and my mind is busy and full. What I am craving more than anything right now is time for my own yoga practice. I have not been able to prioritize doing all of the wonderful things that I spend my time coaching others to do.
In order to find the time I have decided that as of next week, I am moving to one online group class per week, and at the end of March I will be pausing all online group classes for a few months.
All Private and Workplace Yoga classes will continue to run as usual.
If you currently have credits with me I have a few options for you but first please allow me to apologize for the number of times I am about to use the word credits.
There is still time to sign up for the Gentle and Strength and Flow class this week in the usual time slots. For the rest of March, I am teaching a 10:30 am Wednesday class that is an amalgamation of my 3 types of online classes called Functional Flow. Credits can be used to join these classes live, or you can sign up to get a recorded version of the class that you have access to for 1 week.
You can also use the credits for a class of your choice from my library of previously recorded classes. Just let me know which type of class you would like and I will send it to your inbox.
If you are interested in a private online class, you can schedule that for 4 credits.
Current credits will no longer have an expiry date so you can hang on to them and use them for any in-person classes (I have a few outdoor classes lined up this spring/summer) or future online classes when I start back up in a few months.
If none of these options suit you, I am also offering a cash refund.
For anyone without credits, wanting to join us this month, drop-ins are available for every group class for $12 and you can still get the 3-class package for $30 until the end of the month!
If you have any questions about any of this information, please reach out at any time.
I look forward to connecting again soon.
With gratitude,
Jodi
